These colorblock mittens are like a knitted jigsaw puzzle. Worked sideways in garter stitch with a simple intarsia technique, the graphic garter stripes create a staggered, interlocking pattern on the hand. A decorative seam is used at the center of the palm, while cuff and thumb are worked circularly as “afterthoughts”. We chose a tonal combination of greys for our sample, but can think of plenty of tempting color combinations that would look just as fetching.

  • Color A: 155 yards
  • Color B: 35 yards
  • Color C: 50 yards



Finished Gauge:

  • 24½ stitches & 51 rows = 4″ in garter stitch with Gauge Needles, after blocking
  • Gauge Needle: One pair of straight needles (or circular, if preferred) and one set of Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) in size needed to obtain gauge listed
  • Suggested Size: 2¾ mm (US 2)
